Boris Voronstov, the developer of the ENB Series; which adds graphical enhancements to several games, has been updated with some support for Skyrim. Currently it looks like he has added some SSAO effects, and offers some advice on memory management changes through the INI files to help smooth out gameplay.

Head on over to the ENBDev website to check it out.

Update: Thanks to tapioks for pointing out that the SSAO and other effects are not in the current version available for download. The author has only posted images of the coming effects and the current download only has some minor and general tweaks and fixes.

Every time I start the game with this mod, it takes a screenshot with every frame!

This mod does improve the lighting but it has some bugs, like the world map for instance. Overall it's quite nice, just hoping for a more ThiefENB Series updated for Skyrim (26)eadly Shadows palette though, that was f--king immersive lighting in my opinion.

It s makin me lose a little FPS and i can't figure what it changes anyway, i won't use it anymore.
Anyway the game is just great right now with mods and settings i got, no need to improve it further as long as it runs as smooth as can be, this is what count to me that's why i'm so happy to have it PC version. and not laggy bobox or Pee S3.

I can't wait to have creation kit so i will rework light effects and shadows, because that'is what do the most important job visually speaking (look at Deadspace).

I installed the latest version of this fix, and it cleared up some graphical issues I was having; namely, that most of the game's billboarding effects were not working at all (invisible spiderwebs/cobwebs, invisible spell effects such as flames and clairvoyance, invisible shout effects, invisible fog/dust in ruins, invisible cloud layer on map view, invisible dragon breath flames, invisible magelights, invisible spell fountains at the mage's college, invisible beams of light in Meridia's temple, etc.). Now, they work just fine. Another excellent release from ENB.

                                    @Tropxe
Just my guess; judging by some of his posts, he is still basing the development on DX9 because he doesn't have a DX10 or DX11 card (November 9th 2011). Also to be honest, I found his rants to be ridiculous, if not hilarious (March 1st 2010). XD

And I need to know; are his patches/mods usable only on single core processors? Because I can run Silent Hill Homecoming just fine without his patch. Also his Skyrim patch didn't do anything to improve my game, just like Tropxe described. Maybe not for me then. ENB Series updated for Skyrim (31)

But he's still a talented modder, methink.

I installed this and it totally f*cked game performance while making no visible differences. See my profile for system specs. It's running on Ultra usually and is smooth as butter apart from certain locations where it drops into what looks like the 40 range, such as Markarth when looking across the whole town. Putting this on made it horribly slow in Riften and I couldn't see any visual improvement.

Why won't this guy do DX11 stuff? Why is he still basing it on DX9?

                                                ENBoost is required!

Due to Skyrim LE's 32-bit memory limit, ENBoost must be used by everyone. The following instructions pertain only to ENBoost; the memory manager of ENBSeries.

What is the FPS limit for ENB Skyrim? ›

Set FPS limit to true, set desired FPS to 60. You can also do it from inside the game. Press Shift + Enter and go to FPS limit. Press the tickbox and then in the line under that, click it and type 60.

How do I update Skyrim on Steam?
                                                1. Launch Steam.
                                                2. Click the Library tab.
                                                3. Right click on Skyrim.
                                                4. Select Properties.
                                                5. Select the Updates tab in the new window that appears.
                                                6. Ensure that "Always Keep this game up to date" is selected.

What did Skyrim update add? ›

This update for Skyrim Special Edition introduces Bethesda Game Studios Creations, an enhanced platform for building and sharing community-made content, as well as Steam Deck and ultrawide monitor support for PC players.

Can I use ENBoost without ENB? ›

You do not need any ENB preset to use the ENBoost. You only need the ENB binary pack and - if you wish - can do your own tweaks for it. SHIFT+ENTER opens the ENB GUI ingame (open the console, if screen spins after a mouse), where you can set and test settings yourself.

                                                What does ENBoost do? ›

ENBoost is a memory management feature added to ENBSeries to address the crashes and freezes relating to the well-known system memory (RAM) limit of 32-bit applications.

What does ENB stand for in Skyrim? ›

The acronym stands for Enhanced Natural Beauty, a term coined when people started modding the general graphics of Elder Scrolls Games trying to make it look more natural, mainly by manipulating the lighting.

How many gigs of RAM do I need to run Skyrim? ›

The recommended GPU is set at the GeForce GTX 780 and the Radeon R9 290, while the recommended CPU is set at the Core i5-2400 and AMD FX-8320. Skyrim also needs 8 GB of system RAM and about 12 GB of free harddrive space for the install.

How do I know if ENB is on Skyrim? ›

When you start your game in the top left corner you'll get a fancy ENB message and junk. If you don't get that you either have no ENB or you're missing the d3d9.

How well can my PC run Skyrim? ›

The Skyrim system requirements ask for a minimum graphics card equivalent to an AMD Radeon X1950 Pro. However a GPU equivalent to an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 260 is recommended. An Intel Core 2 Duo E4400 CPU is required at a minimum to run Elder Scrolls 5, whereas an Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 or better is recommended.

                                                Is ENB CPU intensive? ›

Skyrim itself is CPU intensive but ENB is GPU intensive.

Can Skyrim run at 144 FPS? ›

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Special Edition

Manage 3D setting> Program Settings> Skyrim Special Edition> Max Framerate> Set it at 144. The engine can handle more than 60fps fine.

Why is Skyrim capped at 60fps PC? ›

More than 60 FPS aren't recommended, since the game's physics engine can go haywire above 60 FPS. There are workarounds, but TBH, something near 60 FPS is perfectly fine for Skyrim.

What is the key for ENB series settings? ›

Turn on and off ENBSeries mod, default is F12 key. Must be pressed together with KeyCombination key, so don't expect that pressing only F12 will turn mod on/off, only SHIFT+F12 will work.
